FAULKNER UNIVERSITY CHORUS AT BEAR VALLEY

Sunday night, March 16, 2008, the Faulkner University (www.faulkner.edu) Chorus sang at Bear Valley church of Christ. Faulkner is a church of Christ affiliated liberal arts college in Montgomery, Alabama. The chorus sounded beautiful (video clip below) and they members made a very positive impression upon the congregation (words like "polite," "courteous," and "manners" were used to describe them by their hosts). Bear Valley did the usual wonderful job of gracious hospitality, making this such an enjoyable evening. Thanks to all for the part you played...

At the end of the concert, audience members who had sung or do sing is a Christian chorus were invited to join Faulkner for the singing of "The Lord Bless You And Keep You." See which BV members you can spot (I know some did not come up, like JOHN KLEMM).

Afterward, there was a potluck hosted by the BALBINS and AUTREYS.

What we've been doing and what's coming

The summer has been busy at Bear Valley.

--June 7-10, 2009--Steve Compton coordinated a hugely successful, extremely well attended Bible Discovery Days (what we call our Vacation Bible School). Well over 300 present on Wednesday night.

--June 14-21--Our 11th annual Future Preachers Training Camp. Neal Pollard directs this, assisted by Butch Plummer as well as a host of others (including Denny Petrillo, Mike Hite, Wayne Roberts, Jason Chesser, Bud Woodall, Jack Wilkie, Anthony Warnes, Garrett Bookout, Brett Petrillo, Wayne Burger, Kevin Smith, Mark Hanstein, Meda King, Louetta Smith, Lee Hanstein, etc.). DeAnn Wilkie, chef, makes the whole thing work.

--August 2-8--First ever Higher Ground Camp.

--August 16--Brian and Shawna Vance head up the annual Church Family Picnic. About 200 came for this enjoyable time together.

COMING SOON:

--September 6--First day of classes at Bear Valley Bible Institute. We have a sizable class this fall.

--September 24-27--Annual Bear Valley Lectures. Theme: "More Than Conquerors" (Studies In Joshua). We will publish a hardback book of the lectures for the first time ever.

--October 16-31--Team Cambodia. Group of 7 BV members going to do mission work in Siem Reap: Elders Clint Stephens and Maynard Woolley, deacons Wes Autrey, Ernie Barrett, and Mike Hite, preacher Neal Pollard, and teen Gary Pollard.
